Kirsten Kruser

Editor-in-Chief

Kirsten Kruser is a double major in English and Communication; she is currently in her junior year at Clarke and she is aiming to graduate in May 2027. Her extracurricular activities on campus include the Tenth Muse and the Crux (Clarke’s student-led newspaper). This year, Kirsten steps into the leadership role as Editor-in-Chief of the Tenth Muse. In her role, she had the privilege of determining which literary and art pieces will be featured and she got to decide which direction the magazine would go in for this year’s volume. While in the process of going through each submission, Kirsten thoroughly enjoyed being introduced to various forms of art that she had never seen or heard of. She dabbles in art a tiny bit herself; she enjoys coloring, painting, doodling, and photography, so she liked seeing the different visual pieces everyone submitted. Another aspect of her role is marketing for the Tenth Muse, which she did in both the Fall and Spring semester of this academic year.

During her time at Clarke, Kirsten had heard about the Tenth Muse and wished to help with creating publications for it as an upperclassman. She was not expecting to be the only student to participate in the creation of the volume itself, however. Despite the challenge, she tried her hardest to create the best volume she possibly could to make submitters happy and give fellow students a chance to add the Tenth Muse to their resumes.

Her favorite part of working on the Tenth Muse is having the privilege to see a wide variety of writers and see their different styles and topics of interest in their writing; it reminded her of how fun creative writing can be as she had not been able to do creative writing since early high school. A goal of hers thanks to the Tenth Muse is to get back into creative writing.

When Kirsten has free time, she enjoys playing Animal Crossing, listening to music, spending time with loved ones, going on walks, baking sweets, and watching TV.

Kirsten would like to thank those that helped her make Volume XVI of the Tenth Muse happen. These people include professors Eric Wold and Steve Bellomy. She also wants to thank the following students for helping with marketing last semester: Angelina Bauman, Dominick Gaspie, Chloe Grass, and Abby Pierce. Finally, Kirsten wants to humbly thank submitters from all sixteen volumes for supporting the Tenth Muse magazine!

She also worked the Tenth Muse Halloween Atrium Booth to promote the magazine and have people submit for Volume 16. Chloe’s creative ideas makes her a key aspect to the team.

Abby Pierce

Abby Pierce creates fun and compelling social media posts to encourage engagement with the Tenth Muse. Her knowledge in Graphic Design makes her social media posts extremely helpful with getting the Tenth Muse submissions and supporters for Volume 16. Abby is always willing to take on extra work and go the extra mile for the magazine.

Dominick Gaspie

Dominick Gaspie is achieving a Computer Science major and a minor in English. His unique knowledge and experiences with technology makes him a helpful element to this year’s Tenth Muse staff in both social media engagement and marketing. Dominick’s one-of-a-kind way of thinking helps the team immensely in coming up with creative ideas to promote the magazine.
